Description

I'm thinking only diehard Trigun fans will understand this, but hey, I could be wrong.
Anyway, I have met a few people in my life that say "Knives had no right to kill all those people on Project SEEDS", and they're right. However, they sometimes also say that they hate Knives for what he did, and that's when I pop the big question: Did you ever stop to think that he had a reason? That stumps those people.
Here's the deal, okay? Knives did have a reason to go crazy and kill everyone on SEEDS. The show, being that it was completely altered from the manga and shorter than the series was originally supposed to be, does not let us know what that reason was, let alone indicate that he had any reason for doing what he did.
The reason Knives crashed Project SEEDS is quite simple, actually, if you give enough of a damn to pay attention to the manga. As a child (and this is where the Trigun spoiler comes in, so if you don't want to have part of the series ruined for yourself, don't read this), he and Vash stumbled across their older (but, sadly, deceased) sister, Tessla. The two brothers then eventually found out that when she was born, the crew of SEEDS began experimenting horrifically on her, altering her both inside and out. Soon she began to break down (the plant term for "die"; remember that Vash, Knives, and Tessla are humanoid plants), until she finally stopped functioning. So what do the crew members do with her? They stick her in a damn test tube and just leave her there.
Well, you can imagine how horrified and mentally scarred Knives and Vash became. For a while after that, they found it hard to trust Rem and the rest of the crew, though Vash eventually accepted everything he'd seen and—to my knowledge, at least—forgave them. Knives, however, keeps a hard grudge, and he stabs Rem—though he regrets it afterward.
...At least... that's what I interpreted from the manga. Whatever.
My point is that Knives crashed the fleet of SEEDS ships because he was angry and—truthfully—afraid. He worried that what happened to Tessla might happen to him or Vash, so he killed the majority of the humans.
Knives just likes to deny that he's afraid. "I'm only angry." Yeah... bullshit. xD
So yes. He had a reason. :] If you need more explanation, I'll give it out.
However, if you understand why Knives did what he did, PUT THIS STAMP IN YOUR JOURNAL OR SHOUTBOX OR WHATEVER.

I agree with Knives when he says that humans are corrupt and depraved, but I also agree with Rem and Vash when they say that no one has the right to take the life of another. I understand why Knives did it; I'm just not happy about it.
